Busch Gardens is not nearly as allergy friendly as Disney World, but they do normally take allergies seriously. The pre-pandemic park boasted a few gluten-safe options in Macro Polo’s Marketplace, Das Festhaus, Trapper’s Smokehouse and O’Tators.

Eateries are now open based on the portions of the park available to guests (Virginia is limited in its capacity for theme parks). It is important to review what locations are open and serving.

1. O’Tators Salads and Potatos

This location is NOT always open during the Christmas celebration and may not be available.

This location offers a build your own salad and potato bar with some simple sides and drinks. Some of the toppings, like stew and chili, are not gluten safe. The manager on duty in the location can confirm.

Certified allergy location: Yes

Recommendation: Cheese and broccoli potato

2. Grogan’s Irish Pub

This lively pub serves up a selection of seasonal and craft beer, wine and cider. It also has chili-chips and pretzels for a quick snack. There are no gluten safe food options here, but the cider selection can usually be better than the Angry Orchard available elsewhere in the park.

Be sure to ask if the ciders on tap are gluten-free.

3. Trapper’s Smokehouse

This location has been open for most of the limit capacity events. It offers smoked BBQ and a variety of sides and drink options. While the items on the main food line are not allergy safe,  many of the items can be made to order without cross contamination by speaking to the manger on duty. 

Note: The fries are offered as allergy safe, but are not made in a dedicated frier. Cross contamination is possible.
